How Boeing jets are built

9090 views

We have always wondered where and how these massive jets are built. Being that they weigh several tonnes. Boeing has built several models, which are the 707, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787.

Boeing planes are built at the Boeing Everett factory near Paine Field, in Washington State. This is where the first Boeing 747 first rolled out. Boeing’s aircraft, (wings, elevators, etc.) are put together using a special glue.

According to a Wired, Boeing is said to have been able to build a 737 in 9 days from their assembly line, and that “Boeing plans to build 47 planes each month next year and ramp up to 57 in 2019”.

The reason why they build these jets this way is to save time, and because “strong demand for single-aisle jets from low-cost carriers and domestic airlines”.

Airbus, another major company, has succeeded due to the popularity of one of the common models that they made, the Airbus A320, which is the competitor to the 737.

The demand for narrowbody planes is strong especially for “Airlines in China, which means both companies are ramping up production. Airbus says it will crank out 60 planes a month by 2019”.
