Elon Musk seeks Twitter’s help in naming his tunneling machine, users rush to the rescue

Founder of Tesla, SpaceX and more recently a boring company, Elon Musk challenged his Twitter followers to come up with a name for its first tunneling machine. And people didn’t disappoint.

Elon Musk tweeted that he’s thinking about a name for ‘our first tunneling machine’ and even if he didn’t specifically ask for help, his followers started replying with hundreds of suggestions.

“Maybe Ultimate Boring Machine, the Second. By calling it “the Second”, it has more credibility. I know what you’re thinking … then why not “the Third”? Well, I’ve learned my lesson about 3’s,” Elon Musk wrote in a series of tweets.

“Kinda like Snoop Dug,” he added later.

Some of the names suggested from Elon Musk’s Twitter followers include: Tunnel McTunnelFace, Boring machine, Displacement Activity, William Burroughs, and Dug.

Musk publicly announced in December a project to build a tunnel to relieve urban traffic congestion called “The Boring Company.”

Musk said that the goal is to improve tunneling speed “somewhere between 500 and 1,000%,” and that the starting point was a “test trench” on the grounds of SpaceX’s Hawthorne, California headquarters.
