A new trademark registered by Microsoft has fueled rumors that it relates to the Xbox Scorpio logo.

With the console war coming to a head of late, it should come as no surprise that all players within the video game industry are upping their game and looking to unleash a console that will cater for the new gaming generation. While Nintendo has taken a novel approach with the Switch, Microsoft and Sony seem to be concentrating on aspects under the hood.

While Sony’s new inclusion seems to be centered around the Playstation 5, Microsoft seems to be launching a console that not only encompasses the Xbox One library but promises to offer a lot more when it comes to graphical prowess and performance.

It would appear that Microsoft has filed a trademark for logo that revolves around a large ‘S.’ While it’s no secret that the name for Xbox’s new project is Scorpio, it’s worth noting that project names can often change. (For example, the Xbox One was initially named ‘Durango.’)

While there is speculation that the new logo could have been registered for Microsoft’s new console, it’s also worth nothing that the S could be have been registered in line with Microsoft’s Xbox One S line of consoles, which are upgraded versions of the console, which offered avid gamers 4K resolution, as well as a slimmed-down design,

Nothing is for certain as of now, but you can expect to hear more from Microsoft when it attended E3 2017 in June.
