The influence of media

The roles that media play in society are overwhelming. It is one of the ways through which people obtain valid information. There are ways in which the media can use its appeal to change the perceptions of audiences on various issues.

The media can use its reputation to educate people on the importance of controversial topics. Media can influence the people both positively and negatively.

The twenty-first century is associated with various developments in different sectors, especially in the realm of digital communication. Compared to earlier historical periods, people could hardly communicate in ways that people are now able to do presently. The modes of communication were done in a strategic manner to allow people to get the message that they have tried to communicate.

Moreover, there were the difficulties by the governments of various countries to effectively reach out to its people to convey valid information. This made the communication very limited in various areas. The lack of effective communication in remote areas was seen as encouraging the exploitation of the people in different ways. However, the twenty-first century has become a savior to the difficulties that were faced in the previous centuries. One of the things that can be celebrated in the twenty-first century is the development of various forms of communication. Mass media is one of the areas that have tremendously improved within the twenty-first century.

In fact, the improvement of the mass media is believed to have made the world smaller since a person can effectively reach out to other people in far distant places with ease. Unlike previous methods that were used to convey messages to people that could be considered limited, the contemporary world has led to the improvement of various forms of communication. There have been numerous developments in various forms of mass communication. These may include the newspaper, television, radios, and mobile phones. As much as society would want to brag about various forms of social media, and how these methods have positively helped the people, society tends to forget about the role that media has played in persuasion.

Considering the benefits that have been associated with mass media, it will be unjust of any person who claims that the mass media has contributed negatively to most societies due to its ability to persuade. Some people will argue that the twenty-first century mass media has led to the erosion of various cultures and the reduction of moral standards.

Moreover, different forms of mass media have been accused as the platform where the negative behaviors have been instilled in many people within society. This is because of their abilities to use various means through which people can get whatever can be communicated. Some people might call it manipulation of the public, but it is their robust skills in persuasion that truly impacts the people. These claims are considered weak since the benefits that have been associated with mass media are considered to be extreme.

Just like the name, mass media covers various social issues by providing different platforms through which those issues could be addressed. The issues that are covered by the media are sometimes considered controversial, and thus, cannot be told to the public without properly convincing them of such arguments within a debate. The media is therefore mandated to use different approaches to making sure that they get the public’s attention.

The use of such approaches is regarded as the persuasive approaches towards those people. In doing so, mass media has helped with informing people on different issues that society as a whole might address. Most countries today that experience dictatorship have been considered as facing challenges related to how the media addresses such turmoil. It is through mass media that will inform the people about injustice, thus inspiring people to fight for liberty.
