The Holy Grail of the Quantum Computer

2225 views

Within the realms of quantum physics and computing comes to a strive to find the ultimate information processor. Quantum computing relies on the use of quibits to store and process information. Quibits utilise sub-atomic particles, such as photons, to process information. As these quibits can exist in a variety of states, they enable a vast amount of processing capability.

A recent article by Futurism.com, has identified MIT Harvard research, that may enable the mass production of Quantum Computers. The technology that the researchers have utilised relies on atomic-scale flaws within diamonds. As these flaws are only approximately 50 nanometers and naturally emit light, they are perfect for the quantum scale effects required to create mass produced quantum processors.

Although the research is in the formative stages, it provides a certain pathway towards creating commercial quantum computers, that would have inconceivable processing abilities. If such technology were to reach the marketplace our world would be a very different place and our vision of the future would change forever.
