STUDY. The safest seats in an airplane
Air transportation is the safest way of travelling, according to statistics. But even if accidents take place quite rarely, many passengers ask themselves what is the safest seat in an airplane.
In order to provide a correct answer, scientists took in consideration various factors and situations. It seems that in a plane crash, passengers near the tail of the airplane have higher chances of survival than those on the front seats.
According to a study published by Popular Mechanics passengers that are located in the back of the plane, beyond the wing, have 69% chances of survival, while those in the middle have 56% chances to survive a crash. In the case of those located at the front of the plane, the rate is of 49%.
A similar study was conducted by the famous publication Time. The results showed that those located on the back seats of the plane have fatality rates of 32%, those in the middle of 39% and the seats in the front – 38%.
