The city where the sea and the wind ”play” the organ. The place attracts thousands of tourists
An unusual musical instrument can be found on the coast of Zadar, a city in Croatia. It is the ”Sea Organ”, which attracts thousands of tourists.
Nikola Bašić is the Croatian architect that set up this special project. Built on the banks of the Adriatic Sea, the organ has 35 tubes and is around 70 meters long.
The unusual instrument ”plays” everytime the wind blows or the waves make it inside.

The spot has become a must for tourists that visit Zadar. Moreover, the project received the European Prize for Urban Public Spaces in 2006.
Nevertheless, Croatia’s Sea Organ is not unique. A similar instrument – created by Peter Richards and George Gonzalez – can be found in San Francisco Bay.
