Luton capture midfielder Jack Stacey

League Two club Luton Town make their third signing of the summer with that of midfielder Jack Stacey, to add to those of Marek Stech and Alan McCormack.

League Two side Luton Town today made their third signing of the close season.

Nathan Jones makes his third close season signing, that of twenty-two-year-old former Reading midfielder Jack Stacey, on a free transfer.

Last season Stacey made 34 League Two appearances and one FA Cup appearance  for Exeter City, whilst on loan from his parent club, as well as appearing in all of the Grecians play-off matches, including the final at Wembley as a beaten finalist against Blackpool. During the 1914-15 season he appeared on six occasions for Reading in the Championship. He is deemed to be a player of versatility, able to fit in as a right midfielder in addition as a right sided defender.

The first of Jones’ summer signings for the Hatters, was made on June 1<sup>st</sup> when completing the arrival of former Brentford midfielder Alan McCormack.

McCormack has made a total of three hundred and ninety four starts and entering the field of play as a substitute on fifty six occasions, scoring a total of twenty seven goals since 2002 when his football league career commenced as a trainee with Preston North End. Thirty three year old McCormack has appeared for seven other clubs during his career, Preston North End, Leyton Orient, Southend United all online from Preston, before signing with Southend on a free transfer in 2007), Motherwell (on Loan from the Southend), Charlton Athletic , Swindon Town and Brentford.

During the 2016 – 2017 season Alan made eleven Championship appearances and one EFL Cup appearance for the west London club.

Luton’s second signing of the close season, was that of twenty seven year old Czech Republic keeper Marek Stech. Born in Prague, his professional career began as a trainee with his local club Sparta Prague, where he stayed until 2006. He was signed as sixteen year old by Premiership club West Ham United for an undisclosed figure. He made a total of three League cups for them. Whilst with the Hammers Stech was sent out on loan on four occasions. Firstly to Wycombe Wanderers (2 League appearances), Bournemouth (1 league appearance), Yeovil Town (5 league appearances) and Leyton Orient (2 League appearances). In July 2012 Marek was signed by Yeovil Town for free, after leaving West Ham by mutual consent following six years at the club. He was to make a total of eighty five appearances for the Somerset club in all competitions, before moving back to his home club Sparta Prague in July 2014. During his second period with Sparta he made a total twenty nine first team appearances.

The signing of Stech will appease a great deal of the Luton following last season having to rely on loan keepers’ throughout.
