Transfer rumour: Matic Vs Fabinho
Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new defensive midfielder this summer but who should be ‘the chosen one’?
Winning the Europa Leauge made Manchester United’s season go from bad to good as they are now qualified for the Champions League. United’s league performance wasn’t great, finishing 6th in the league with total points of 69. 23 points behind the League winners, Chelsea. Jose’s boys had 10 home draws in the league. This is unacceptable for a team that’s competing for the Premier League title. They need to learn how to finish teams off like Sir Alex Ferguson would have done.
Jose’s team made it to the Quater final of the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Chelsea back in March. But the Europa League wasn’t United’s only major trophy as they won the EFL Cup beating Southampton 3-2 in the final at Wembley.
Nemanja Matic was a key part of Chelsea’s title success last season, playing 35 games for the Blues (27 Wins, 3 Draws, 5 Losses). Matic also had an impressive 87.72% pass accuracy and 7 assists. But the 28-year-old is keen to reunite with the former Chelsea boss after the champions have reportedly agreed a £35 million fee for Tiemoue Bakayoko and it’s rumoured he will have a medical next week.
Matic isn’t the only player that Jose is interested in. Brazilian Fabinho from Monaco is heavily linked with Manchester United. Admittedly saying he would welcome the chance to join Jose in Manchester. The 23-year-old with a pass accuracy of 84.35% has a lot of potential and the chosen one is keen to get him on board the squad.
But which one should he go for?
Matic who is 28-years-old with experience in playing under Jose and in the Premier Leauge or Fabinho who is young and has potential to be one of the best and he can also play Right-Back?
