Predictions for 2017 Money in the Bank

WWE’s trademark ‘Money in the Bank’ PPV is still a week away and the card looks promising, in every aspect.

Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton: Singles match for the WWE Championship

Mahal shocked the WWE Universe when he managed to get the 1..2..3 on Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship; back in May. The fact that Mahal won is pretty awesome. What we want is to see Mahal be a successful champion. For his sake, it’s best that he retains the championship. That doesn’t mean with the assistance of the Singh brothers or by DQ. Mahal will have to get a clean pinfall victory. Another huge win over Orton will build up his legacy. As for the Viper, winning the belt again doesn’t do anything for him. He’s only playing “catch-up” to Cena’s 16 world championship reigns.

Winner: Mahal

Naomi vs. Lana: Singles match for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship

Straight up; Naomi should be the winner. It’s not going to happen. Lana is finally working on her own. Given that Rusev is injured, having Lana move forward all points to a championship reign. As to how WWE will work with her as champion is beyond us.

Winner: Lana

The Usos vs. The New Day: Tag Team match for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship

This can go either way. Only by a slight bit we can see the Usos retain their titles. First off; the Usos were floating around in WWE purgatory. They really didn’t do anything prior to winning the titles. Both of them are hard to picture as singles competitors. So keep them together. Like all good tag teams, the New Day has to break up sooner than later. In fact, failing to win the tag titles can lay the foundation for a split and singles careers.

Winner: The Usos

Kevin Owens vs. Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles: Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship match contract

First, let’s pick out the fan favorites to win. Zayn, Styles, and Nakamura are the dream winners of the match; for most fans. Now; there is a good possibility of that not happening, here’s why. It’s too easy to give them the prize. Keep in mind that WWE logic is at work. Ziggler is there to provide key spots and “he might win” moments. Owens has already gotten a taste of a world title, so his path back there will has to be the long one. Last year, AJ reached the top and he stayed there for almost a full year. Winning this isn’t necessary. Shinsuke and Zayn don’t look like the types that will cash in on a weaken opponent. That leaves us with Corbin. The “Lone Wolf” will be the next “Ultimate Opportunist”.

Winner: Corbin

Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Tamina vs. Natalya vs. Carmella: Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a Smackdown Women’s Championship match contract.

Apart from the traditional ‘MITB’ ladder match taking place, WWE will now have a women’s ‘Money in the Bank’ ladder match. Let’s breakdown the roles of each competitor. Natalya and Tamina will be powerhouses of this match. Charlotte’s and Lynch’s roles will consist of moments that require them to work together against Natalya and Tamina. That leaves Carmella. On paper, she should be the least likely to win. Don’t forget that James Ellsworth will be a factor. If anything, he will directly cost Charlotte or Lynch the match, seconds before either one can retrieve the briefcase.

Winner: Carmella
