Brock Lesnar tops the “Destroyer” in GBOF main event
What was expected to be a quick squash match turned out to be a great brawl.
Joe’s early advantage stunned us all
Just like how Samoa Joe was the last the man standing in the last episode of Raw, he started the match the same way. Joe mounted as offense that he could, early on. The “Beast Incarnate” was becoming more human than beast.
Eventually, Lesnar was able to land some hits in an attempt to even out the match. It wasn’t sufficient, as Joe shortly regained the upper hand. It took several tries for Joe to apply the Coquina Clutch. Regardless of the fact that he was unable to fully apply the hold, Lesnar was taking in a lot of damage. The trips to “suplex city” were short-lived; as Joe had a round-trip ticket to maintain the lead.
In the end, it took one F-5 to overcome the “Destroyer”
Honestly; it really did seem like Joe was on the verge of topping Lesnar. Especially due to Lesnar only managing a bit of offense. Once we saw Lesnar lift up Joe for an F-5, we thought that it was over. Surprisingly; Joe was able to counter the finisher into another Coquina Clutch. With one shot of adrenaline, Lesnar mustarded the strength for a 2nd F-5 and the victory.
Joe did make a statement
The loss didn’t leave a permanent stain on Joe’s momentum. He can get a rematch at Summerslam; which is a much better place for a big title change. By then; the feud between these monster has peaked.
