Everything you need to know about eyebrow microbladding
Eyebrows are a key feature of the face, so it’s important to take care of them and make sure they look as good as possible. The wide variety of products that are currently available – pencils, gels or pigments – make everything easier nowadays, yet sometimes, not even these are enough. Here is where eyebrow microbladding comes along.
Eyebrow microbladding is a form of tattoo artistry that involves implanting pigment under the skin with a manual handheld tool, thus drawing ”hair-like strokes to mimic natural hairs”.
Since it is basically a form of a tattoo, the clients need to prepare – they should stop drinking, taking aspirin or using retinol one week before the treatment, as these substances can contribute to bleeding during the procedure.
Although the pain isn’t one of the most intense ones humans can feel, the technicians do prep their clients’ brows with topical numbing cream in order to dull the discomfort, and the procedure can take up to two hours for the new patients.
Since this is a form of tattooing, aftercare is critical. Clients are advised to refrain from working out or washing the face with water and use Vaseline and other ointments provided during the first appointment in order to calm the itching and redness experienced during the first week.
Depending on the skin and lifestyle, touch-ups are recommended once every six months, with results that can last up to three years.
Despite its numerous benefits, microblading is an investment, with the first treatment reaching up to $900.
