Do not put all your eggs in one basket

In spite of the recent drama that has been going on with YouTube for the past couple of weeks, I find that their is a lesson that can be learned. A life lesson that teaches you to always have a Plan B in case life throws you a curve ball.

As many of you all may know, a bunch of big time advertisers like Pepsi, Toyota, and L’Oreal have been pulling away their ads from YouTube and Google. The reasoning behind this is because, a lot of these advertisers have found that their ads we’re being placed on content that was not quote on quote “Advertiser Friendly”. Basically anything ranging from showing nudity, to using excessive profanity, or any terrorist or ISIS videos was a big no no.

As a result, ad revenue has drastically dropped making some content creators worried about the future. Wondering how can they continue to generate income and keep their channels afloat? Now for people who may not know, “Ad Revenue” is the most basic and common way that content creators get paid. So with thousands of advertisers pulling away daily, many may start to wonder “Is this the end of YouTube?”. Will some of our favorite and beloved content creators quit YouTube for good?

I know that a majority of content creators make a living off of YouTube. Pretty much they went all in, and now their only source of income is starting to rapidly go downhill. As someone who does YouTube as a hobby, I can’t say that I can sympathize with how most of these content creators feel. I mean don’t get me wrong I do feel bad. But at the same time, I do not know how it feels to do YouTube as a full-time job.

Though I never started YouTube in the first place for either the money or fame, I always knew that I wanted to have multiple streams of income. That I did not want to limit myself to only one source of income and not have a backup plan. Which is why I bring up the phrase “no not put all your eggs in one basket”. Because in life, you never know when things are going to take a turn for the worst. Because if you only focus your effort and time into one aspect of your life, you may end up losing a lot more in the end.

Their is no guarantee that things are going to last forever or stay the same. What you do now is going to sustain you for the rest of your life this is why you need to have options in life because with options you have choices.

You have to also remember to not become too complacent in life. Knowing that life can mess at any given moment in time. That you must be prepared for anything that comes your way. Because if you are not, you end up with the short end of the stick, sitting their and scratching your head wondering “What do I do next?”.
