Beer Day Britain 2017 a beer-illiant success!

Beer Day Britain 2017 occurred on Thursday 15th June 2017. This year’s event may be described as the most successful Beer Day Britain yet with multiple venues across the country hosting a variety of beer related events, and the hashtag ‘#BeerDayBritain’ taking the number 1 trending spot on Twitter regularly throughout the day.

Beer Day Britain started in 2015 and is described as a way to “encourage people to drink beer and join the national party” – what’s not to love? The brainchild of beer sommelier Jane Peyton, the annual event is celebrated on June 15th to coincide with the date of the signing of the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta instituted a standard measure for beer across the country, and this link highlights the long history of beer drinking across Britain’s past.

‘We have so much to be proud of with Britain’s vibrant brewing scene and the fact that our pubs are a cornerstone of the social health of the nation. Without beer, pubs would be wine bars. Now we have an official day to celebrate beer in Britain so please join us and make Beer Day Britain the best beer fiesta in the world,’ said founder Jane Peyton.

As well as events and promotions across pubs and retailers nationwide, Beer Day Britain has also inspired some more wacky expressions of love for the national drink. These include the events original anthem ‘Cheers to Beers’. Check it out on their website at www.BeerDayBritain.co.uk.
