Writing in the Sky: June 11 to June 17, 2017
We can only hope for a great week but with this weekly series of astrological forecasts, you can be armed with the knowledge to actually make that great week happen.
I hope the new moon in Sagitarius on Friday found you well. The full moon is a great time for reaping the oats sown during the new moon, reflection and a transition to the waning moon where we shed energies that no longer serve us.
I’m sure we all have some aspects of our personality that can use shedding or improving and one major aspect this week in particular will definitely shed light on those areas. As with any “negative” aspect, the only negative is your perception. Instead of focusing on the weeds, refocus your attention to your blossoming growth. The weeds will sort themselves out later with your nurturing attention.
Sun opposite Saturn (Gemini and Sagitarius): Saturn is known by many names, some affectionately, mostly not so affectionate, like the Obstructor, Karma or the Teacher. Saturn is like that father who uses tough love but he means well as he is a planet of security, stability and rewards. These rewards must be earned however and this opposition with the Sun is just the time to prove yourself.
Sun opposite Saturn is a heavy transit with a somber mood. During this time, we may feel overwhelmed by demands, pressures and responsibilities which can lead to self-doubt and pessimism. Even the slightest disappointment during this time can have us feeling lonely or like our goals are unsupported. Do not be surprised if people around you do not seem to want to help you as this is part of the struggle with this transit.
This transit works best in our favor if we use this time for solitary action and self reflection. When you want to give up or are overly criticising your efforts, this is the time to push forward. Our self-worth is increased more when we overcome obstacles, not when everything is handed to us. Still, during this aspect, I do not suggest planning any events like job interviews or self promoting as it may hit your ego even harder when you feel as though the world is against you. Keep a positive attitude, find your will power and enjoy the fruits of your labor when it is all said and done.
Mercury trine Jupiter (Gemini and Libra): This aspect encourages a broader world view and makes people more open-minded. If communication is a key component of your career or hobbies, such as a poet, writer, teacher, etc, you will find that it is easier to communicate with people since everyone will seem to want to increase general knowledge and expand their horizons, areas that Mercury and Jupiter rule respectively.
Mercury square Neptune (Gemini and Pisces): When Mercury is involved in a square aspect, expect communication to be on the fritz, especially with an unrealistic planet like Neptune. This hard square aspect can complicate discussions and business dealings so it is important to be mindful of what we say.
Further, since Neptune is the ruler of escapism through drugs and alcohol, be especially careful during this aspect. Mercury urges you to find constructive ways to express yourself, like art, poetry, music, creative writing or dancing. Remember, these aspects aren’t about resistance, but rather acceptance of the energies and how to manifest them in more positive ways.
Crystal healing this week:
I have always considered myself a child of Saturn so lapis lazuli instinctively came to mind for crystal healing this week. It is also helpful that the blue stone is great for the Mercury aspects this week since Mercury rules communication and blue stones, especially lapis lazuli, balances and opens the throat chakra, which rules communication.
Buddhists prefer lapis lazuli as a crystal to bring inner peace and freedom from negative thought, characteristics that will definitely be helpful for the tough Sun opposite Saturn aspect. Lapis is revered as a stone of truth and wisdom which will help you through the trials of Saturn’s aspects to help you grow through it instead of sulking.
No doubt, lapis lazuli will also help with the tough Mercury square Neptune aspects. Neptune can be a little sensitive and make communication fuzzy so a balanced throat chakra will make sure you speak your truth, from love and not fear, and give you the wisdom to constructively express yourself. Lapis lazuli is one of my favorite stones and if you haven’t had the pleasure of working with its energy, this week is a great time to start. Happy manifesting!
