Street musician, Borja Catanesi 20 was born in Valencia always passionate about music he played in a number of bands before going solo as a busker. He travels domestically, in his home nation, Spain but, has also been to Holland, Germany, Belgium and New Zealand. He jams classic blues-rock to funk hip hop to deep reggae dub.
Catanesi, won an award in 2015, hosted by TOYOTA – “Feeling the Street” which has become a global campaign which shines light on talented street musician around the world. The competition started online and aimed at finding the world’s best buskers to form a band together and tour across New Zealand. Catanesi, became the fourth street musician to join some of the best buskers around the world and form as the Global Street Band.
Catanesi, in the documentary ‘A Busking Story’ made by Gorilla’s Films tells how he studied philosophy for a year before taking a break to pursue his passion in music. In regards to Busking Catanesi says, “you have an audience 24/7…street music should be amusing and the norm.” When asked about why busking is appealing Catanesi said, “I like connecting and interacting with people…the truth is that I never went home thinking – Today, I didn’t do anything that wasn’t worth it.”
