Last male white rhino now has a Tinder profile
Sudan, the last surviving male white rhino, now has a Tinder profile, with wildlife experts attempting to keep his species alive.
Sudan will appear as an ad while Tinder users swipe through potential matches, as part of his owner’s efforts to raise awareness about the nearly extinct species.
Moreover, he also hopes to raise money for an artificial insemination programme that would allow Sudan to have offspring, since the cost for getting the rhino’s sperm to fertilize eggs from the last two surviving female white rhinos is $9m.
Sudan’s Tinder description states that he loves the outdoors and enjoys travelling, while adding “I don’t mean to be too forward, but the fate of my species literally depends on me.”
Users who swipe right will be redirected to a website where they can donate for Sudan, with the webpage reportedly crashing hours after Sudan’s profile went live, due to the number of hits.
