This deep sea lizard fish is the stuff of nightmares
Among the beautiful creatures that live in the deep ocean, there are some vicious predatory creatures that want to devour them all, according to MNN.
The deep-sea lizard fish (Bathysaurus ferox) is a predator with razor sharp teeth and green eyes that roams at depths between 3,000 feet to over 8,500 feet. It was discovered during a month-long expedition by Australia’s Museums Victoria and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.
“This terrifying terror of the deep is largely made up of a mouth and hinged teeth, so once it has you in its jaws there is no escape: the more you struggle the further into its mouth you go,” onboard communicator Asher Flatt said. “They have both male and female reproductive organs, so whatever other Bathysaurus ferox they come across will be Mr right and Miss right. How could you not love a face like that!”
Among the creatures discovered during the expedition were an armored rock crab, a coffin fish and a rare faceless fish. The expedition’s discoveries can be followed on their official site.
