Meghan Markle’s declaration of love for Prince Harry has displeased the Queen.

It has been a busy few weeks for the Royal Family. There was the twentieth anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. Kate Middleton also announced her third pregnancy. Now Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle is also making the headlines.

In Vanity Fair magazine Meghan Markle made a declaration of her love for Prince Harry. This is something which has left the Queen and Prince Charles displeased. This begs the question, if Meghan Markle did marry Prince Harry how would she cope with the strict royal protocols. A declaration of love is not a big issue, however when that love is for a member of the Royal Family it becomes an issue, due to their strict protocols.

Although protocol can and has been broken by the Royal Family it is still exists when it comes to behaviour, dress code and various other issues. Meghan Markle has led a completely different life to Prince Harry. She shot to fame playing the role of Rachel Zane in the hit American series Suits. Acting is a career that she had to work hard for often supplementing her income by working as a Freelance Calligrapher and Model. She has also been married before. As well as an actress Meghan Markle has also been involved in various other ventures including a clothing line and was also editor in chief of the lifestyle site The Tig. Her work as a writer has shown the possible future royal is also very opinionated, as she wrote a piece about menstruation. Generally, members of the Royal Family sacrifice their own careers when they marry into the institution. How would someone with such diverse talents and strong work ethic cope? Meghan Markle commented that she could never be a “lady who lunches.”

Historically, the Royal Family struggled to cope with mavericks. Princess Diana still continues to cause controversy even after her death. Also, the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, still continues to make headlines even though she has been divorced from Prince Andrew for a number of years. There was also the topless toe kissing photograph and more recently the Cash for Access scandal in 2010, which resulted in her not being invited to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. This shows the unforgiving side of the Royal Family. Without even being married into the Royal Family yet Meghan Markle has managed to displease the Queen.

Americans generally have a different attitude and lifestyle to the British stiff upper lip, which Princess Diana tried to move away from. This raises the question that how would Meghan Markle, who has a completely different background from Prince Harry and has also been in the limelight herself, would cope with being a royal.

Meghan Markle is due to meet the Queen very soon and the Queen feels that this revelation may make the meeting uneasy. It has been predicted that Prince Harry will propose to very soon. The scrutiny begs the question that are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in this for the long haul or will the romance die down eventually. The meeting between the Queen and Meghan Markle will certainly be a fly on the wall moment.
