“True Blood” star dies at 39

“True Blood”‘s Nelsan Ellis passed away at age 39. The actor, famous for portraying Lafayette Reynolds in HBO’s hit series died as a result of heart failure. 

Nelsan Ellis, famous for playing Lafayette Reynolds in HBO’s “True Blood” series has died at age 39 due to hear failure. According to Hollywood Reporter, Nelsan’s manager broke the news.

“Nelsan has passed away after complications with heart failure,” said Emily Gerson Saines, the actor’s manager. “He was a great talent, and his words and presence will be forever missed.”

Nelsan became famous after playing a short hand cook in the HBO TV series “True Blood”. His portrayal of the character convinced the producers to diverge form the books that inspired the series, in which Lafayette was killed, and keep the character in the film.

“We were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Nelsan Ellis. Nelsan was a long-time member of the HBO family whose groundbreaking portrayal of Lafayette will be remembered fondly within the overall legacy of True Blood. Nelsan will be dearly missed by his fans and all of us at HBO,” an official statement form HBO reads.

Former cast members and friends took to social media to express their condolences. Among them, lead actress, Anna Paquin.

Carrie Preston and Joe Manganiello‏ have also expressed their heartbreak on social media.
