Born on August 17, 1960, Sean Penn is currently one of the most recognizable actors working in Hollywood today. Even though he rose to fame during the 1990s, Sean Penn has actually been working in entertainment since the 1970s. That is because he had uncredited roles in The Little House on the Prairie. After doing a few television films, he had his major break as Jeff Spicoli in the classic teen film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. He then went on to achieve fame in the mid-90s when he starred in Dead Man Walking in 1995. Susan Sarandon might have won the Oscar that year, but Sean Penn was still a strong actor in such a powerful film.
As Penn rose to fame, he even began playing himself! He guest-starred on an episode of Ellen, and he even lent his voice to playing a cartoon-version of himself in Family Guy. Penn’s career then reached its highest point during the 2000s when he won two Oscars for Mystic River and Milk. As of this year in 2017, he is set to play Andrew Jackson in the TV Mini-Series American Lion, and will also appear as Dr. William Chester Minor in the feature film The Professor and the Madman. With such talent, it is clear that Sean Penn will continue of his journey as one of the greatest actors working in Hollywood today.
