Miley Cyrus’s interview with Billboard, released today, revealed she’s working on a new album and she’s debuting a single on May 11th.
It’s called “Malibu” and the author of the article described Cyrus’s new sound as “an unprecedented dose of twang to a mix that includes acoustic turns and epic pop.” In the interview, the 24-year-old actress, singer and songwriter stated that she wrote the song in an Uber on her way to the set of NBC’s The Voice.
The article touches a lot of topics from her sister Noah, to her recent decision to stop smoking, and her relationship with Liam Hemsworth. Cyrus also summarized her album as political and personal, and said she wrote the majority of it.

There’s a song about Hillary Clinton, and another about women in the workplace. “This record is a reflection of the fact that yes, I don’t give a f***,” she told Billboard, “but right now is not a time to not give a f*** about people.”
Cyrus’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, is excited for his daughter’s latest project. He mentioned to Billboard, “This is Miley leaning into her roots more than I’ve ever heard.” The album is set to drop later this year and fans are thrilled!
