Prepare to be amazed by Latvia’s amber concert hall
The city of Liepaja, Latvia, has seen the construction of an amazing new cultural district for its residents, at the center of which is the stunning Great Amber Concert Hall.
The Great Amber Concert Hall was designed by Volker Giencke and its walls are made of sparkling amber-coloured glass.
The heart of the building is home to the Great Hall, a venue which can hold up to 1,000 guests. Sun tubes provide the space with plenty of sunlight, while the fabric of the seats mimics the hues created by the light shining through the amber glass.
The Great Amber Concert Hall also hosts the Liepaja Conservatorium, a ballet studio, and an experimental stage, while art students and teachers can also meet in several instruction and rehearsal rooms.
The public has access to a bar and music club.
