Tom Holland is becoming the third actor to play Spider-Man in the last 10 years. Has the teenager got what it takes to play the role of the highly rated superhero in the (Marvel Cinematic Universe) film ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’?
Tom Holland debuted as Spider-Man in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ when Tony Stark (Iron man) approached the 19-year-old high-school student to be part of his team. In the 30 minute teaser Spider-Man got in the film, critics have already been saying Tom is the best version of Spider-Man yet, but with the history of Spider-Man has with previous actors, we can’t be too quick to jump the gun.
Toby Mcquire was first to play Spider-Man in the 2002 trilogy making a gross profit of $403 million dollars. Weeks before filming spider-Man 4 Toby Mcquire quit his role as Spider-Man because they wanted to send the superhero back to High-school. With Toby being married with three children he knew that wasn’t plausible.

Marvel and Sony Pictures then restarted the franchise as ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ staring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (Spider-Man). The Amazing Spider-Man took $262 million dollars domestically, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 barely made $200 million dollars, dropping from the original Spider-Man films.
Tom Holland has a huge legacy to fulfill as Spider-Man. Can the teenager pull off the impossible?
By bringing in the likes of Robert Downie Jr (Iron man) and Chris Evans (Captain America) can the highly rated superheroes save the day and help save the franchise? In the film, Peter Parker becomes Tony Starks intern, and he takes on the responsibility to train the kid superhero to become the superhero everyone wants him to be. Robert Downie Jr is the highest-paid actor to play a Superhero earning $40 million dollars.
Can the big names help with franchise or will the film break Spider-Man films altogether
