Will Arya be reunited with Nymeria and the Hound in Season 7 of Game of Thrones?
Nymeria and Ghost are the only surviving direwolves.
What does Season 7 have in store for Arya Stark?
Arya was last seen at the Twins killing Walder Frey after feeding him his own sons.
She may be alone but that does not mean she is friendless.
The Hound and her direwolf Nymeria are in the area too!
There is now less than a month until Season 7 of Game of Thrones hits our screens.
Arya Stark is by the most travelled of Starks and we have followed her adventures through most of the Seven Kingdoms and beyond.
At the end of Season 6 she decided that a girl does have a name and returned to Westeros to begin removing names from her kill list.
Arya’s potential character arc for the upcoming season has been dominated by pictures showing her carrying a knife the belonged to Littlefinger. The very Valyrian blade used in an attempt to kill her brother Bran and mother, the blade used to frame Tyrion Lannister.
This has led to speculation that Lord Baelish’s days may be numbered and that soon he may be feeling Arya’s needle, others speculate that Sansa Stark may be the one to put an end to Littlefinger’s scheming. But rather than use a photo shoot to guess the direction of Arya’s story we should use geography.
The geography of Westeros played a large role in the Season 7 trailer, Cersei and Jamie are standing on a huge map in King’s Landing and Daenarys is looking at the carved map on Dragonstone. Geography also needs to be looked at in terms of Arya’s story arc.
The Twins are situated in the neck, they are the site of the Red Wedding and the gateway to the north. In Season 6 the Hound Sandor Clegane was heading north from the Riverlands in the company of Beric Dondarrion and the Brotherhood without Banners. Arya left the Hound to die, stole his purse and used his own line against him: “Dead men don’t need silver.”
The relationship between the two travelling companions had been one of the most interesting and revealing dynamics of the show. The ruthless, heartless and selfish Clegane revealed himself to be far more honourable than knights that had taken vows. Arya seemed to learn from his pragmatism and see the world for what it was rather than what it should be, she even removed him from her kill list.
Nymeria was Arya’s direwolf before she had to drive the beast away. Arya is now once again in the area where Nymeria could be living. There are only two surviving direwolves Nymeria and Jon Snow’s Ghost, yet Instict Animals has shared pictures of two wolves according to fan sight Watchers on the Wall.
Apart from dream sequences there has been no other sight of Nymeria. In the books however she is said to be the leader of a huge pack of ordinary wolves: “A She-wolf, a bitch from the seventh hell.”
When Catelyn Stark was killed at the Twins, her body was thrown into the river and found by Nymeria and her pack. Recent photographs released by HBO show Arya alone in the woods. Could this be where she encounters Nymeria and her pack of man killers.
A dagger has created a huge buzz about what Arya will be doing in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones but the geography creates more exciting possibilities – Arya leading a huge pack of wolves, the Brotherhood without Banners, the Hound and Nymeria at her side.
