Just a week ago Kesha released her first song “Praying”, after a four year long hiatus from music during her legal battle with Dr.Luke

Fans got a glimpse of Kesha’s new feminist anthem “Woman” a few weeks ago when part of the music video was leaked, but quickly any audio or video was taken down online. Thursday July 13th “Woman” was released as a second single to her upcoming album “Rainbow” out August 11th.

In “Woman” Kesha shows us a little of her country Nashville roots mixed with her wild child rock persona.

The new song is about self empowerment as she said in an exclusive letter to The Rolling Stone, “I just really fucking love being a woman and I wanted an anthem for anyone else who wants to yell about being self-sufficient and strong.”

She belts out lyrics like

I’m a mother******* woman, baby, alright/ I don’t need a man to be holding me too tight/ I’m a mother******* woman, baby, that’s right

After everything Kesha has gone through releasing a powerful feminist anthem like this is so important. Dr. Luke really did mess with the wrong woman, and Kesha should be applauded for holding her own through all this. She truly is one strong mother******* woman.

Since 2009 fans have heard all the pop music Kesha had to offer, from “Tik Tok” to “Die Young” Kesha kept the party going. Now with “Rainbow” coming out Kesha is redefining who she is as an artist.

This album is more honest and true than Kesha has ever been in her music and fans can’t wait to hear what she has to say next.

She’s openly talked about her love for Iggy Pop, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Eagles of Death Metal, now with more creative freedom than ever, she’s channeled all of those artists in her new album.

Growing up with a mom as a songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee exposed Kesha to a lot of country music, and it’s interesting to see her channel that for the first time in “Woman”.

With 12 more songs left to hear who knows what other types of sounds Kesha has up her sleeve. Eagles of Death Metal and Dolly Parton who have completely different sounds are both featured on “Rainbow”. One thing is for sure, Kesha is back and the world is ready for her new sound.
