Kesha has risen, releasing triumphant single “Praying” after 4 years
Kesha is back in the music industry with a new powerful single titled “Praying” and a long anticipated album “Rainbow” out August 11th.
After a four year long hiatus from music, Kesha has announced an album titled “Rainbow” available August 11th. Kesha dropped the first single “Praying” on July 6th after announcing it just a night before.
The song sends a powerful message to all the listeners. In an exclusive letter to LennyLetter.com Kesha said, “I hope this song reaches people who are in the midst of struggles, to let them know that no matter how bad it seems now, you can get through it. If you have love and truth on your side, you will never be defeated. Don’t give up on yourself.”
The artistic design for this music video is incredible and truly a great comeback for Kesha. The spoken words before the music starts, gives the audience an emotional sense of how Kesha’s been feeling, right before the audience hears her soft, raw vocals leading into her single.
Kesha plays the opiano, lays in an ocean, and throws around color in the sky as she’s belting out lyrics. The artistic video takes place partly at Leonard Knight’s Salvation Mountain in Southern California.
Since Kesha came out with hits in 2009 she’s conveyed a strong message of empowerment. One of her strongest messages since the very beginning was “stay true to yourself”. Unfortunately for Kesha she wasn’t able to live her truth for a while now, being forced to sing the pop music she did not want to keep singing.
After fighting a 10 year long struggle of an eating disorder and abuse caused by her producer, Dr.Luke and a legal battle, Kesha has finally found the strength and the legal grounds to release music without working directly with her alleged abuser.
Technically she is still bound to some sort of contract with Luke’s label approving her music, but she was able to collaborate with Ben Folds, Ricky Reed, Eagles of Death Metal, and even the country star Dolly Parton.
“Rainbow” out August 11th will include Dolly and Kesha’s cover of “Old Flames (Can’t Hold A Candle To You) ” which was originally written by Kesha’s mother Pebe Sebert sang by Dolly in 1980.
Another featured track on the album will be “Woman”, fans got a sneak peak of this song when part the music video leaked online.
The lyrics from the glimpse of the video include Kesha belting out “I do what I want/ Say what you say! I work real heard every day,” she sings “I’m a motherf——‘ woman, baby, alright/ I don’t need a man to be holding me too tight”
Unfortunately for Kesha fans, if they haven’t heard “Woman” yet, it probably won’t be heard again until the albums’ release. All the videos and audio samples of the song have been taken down on Twitter and other platforms.
One thing is for sure, Kesha has risen as her new video has over 1.5 million views in less than 10 hours.
