The first man-free music festival may take place next year.
This is the direct result of a number of allegations of sexual offences taking place at the Bravalla music festival. The idea came from Scandinavian comedian and radio DJ Emma Kyckare. She has spoken that because women are discriminated against all the time, it is hardly discriminatory to keep men from an event, especially due to the nature of the attacks. The festival has yet to be named, mainly being in the planning stage at the moment.
It is not that strange for festivals to have men-free zones, for instance, Glastonbury having a venue called the Sisterhood, described as a “revolutionary clubhouse” but this will the first female-only music event. The need to end oppression and allow women to attend this kind of events safely seems to be highlighted in recent years.

The Bravalla will not be taking place next year. Attendances at the event have been dropping off for a number of years despite appearances by the Killers and Mumford & Sons. These allegations would not have helped matters in any case.
