Taylor Swift is back. What we know so far

Take a look at what people are saying about Taylor Swift’s newest album release coming on November 10th.

Taylor Swift, who has been off the grid for just about a year now, made a startling revelation this week when she announced that her new album, Reputation, would be dropping November 10th. She made the announcement by wiping her twitter page clean of all posts except for a series of videos that showed a snake coiling across the screen. Confusion spread like wildfire across all social media platforms with posts from fans and haters alike. Fans knew right away it must mean a new album was coming. Taylor’s last album, 1989, was released in 2014, leaving fans without new Swift music for 3 whole years. While the pop star deserved a break, her absence left many fans questioning whether or not she’d ever come back to the music spotlight.

The first single “Look What You Made Me Do” was released the day after Swift announced the album and came as a shock to many. Her new song proves that she is no longer the sweet, innocent, country singer she once was. The song portrays a new, stronger Taylor who’s gone through heartbreak, constant scrutiny, and several attempts to end her career. Like she says in the new tune, “The old Taylor is dead.” The single has already been featured on the “Thank Goodness It’s Thursday” commercial for ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal.

So far, the conception of Taylor’s new album has been varied across fans and haters. Those who dislike the singer are saying that the snakes represent a secret society she may be a part of that supports Neo-Nazi’s and child trafficking. They say that further suggestions of possible membership to this society are shown in certain images and subliminal messages in her new album cover. Moreover, they say that these images suggest support of the Nazi’s and a theory that surrounds a certain pizza shop in Washington DC that was used as a gateway to child trafficking. Although they are trying to prove that these images can be seen in her album cover and new lyrics, they provide little evidence about Taylor as a person and how she could possibly support such a society.

But Swift’s most loyal fans are fighting back saying that this is simply outrageous. The only likely explanation for the image of the snakes is Taylor’s chance to reclaim the symbol that was used against her on twitter. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West used this symbol against her in the infamous battle over whether or not Taylor gave Kanye permission to write lyrics about her. While that debate is largely in the past, this is perhaps Taylor’s chance to take the symbol of a snake, once used negatively against her, and use it to her advantage for arguably one of the biggest comebacks of 2017.

So far what we know is that the new album is dropping November 10th and fans everywhere are excited about it. There will likely be more singles released, and there’s no doubt we’ll learn more information on the album as time passes. For now, it’s available for pre-order. Let the countdown to the new Taylor begin!
