HBO is the latest corporation to suffer from a cyber attack
This summer has been a nightmare for the cable network, HBO.
Following on the coattail of Game of Thrones’s season 7 debut, HBO was hit with a cyber attack at the of July. The hackers reportedly stole 1.5 terabytes of proprietary data from HBO.
“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information,” the network stated to E! News.
“We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”
The hack leaked scripts of Game of Thrones and early episodes of series including Curb Your Enthusiasm. Equally important, a mistake by European HBO platforms gave fans access to this Sunday’s Game of Thrones.
The social media hackers are part of a group called OurMine. They’ve already managed to worm their into the Twitter accounts of Netflix, Marvel, and Google.
HBO has denied any claims that its entire email system has been breached and refuses to bow to any and all demands from the hackers.
