Marilyn Manson causes controversy at his Kiev gig
Marilyn Manson has caused something of a political storm whilst performing for the second time in Kiev.
Marilyn Manson is currently embarking on a world tour which will see him playing 52 major cities throughout the globe. His popular Heaven Upside Down tour encompasses his usual signature sound. The somewhat macabre style of Manson was embraced by the Kiev crowd and he was received by rapturous applause.
Manson made reference to the crowd’s response and said “you just made Moscow sound like your bitch”. In the earlier leg of his tour Manson said that the Moscow crowd were ‘ the greatest god damn crowd ever’. At least he’s lavished compliments on both sides of the divide. Perhaps unintentionally Manson crossed the line into politics and his statement caused anger both in Ukraine and Russia.
The tensions between Russia and Ukraine have been well documented. Recent flares in tensions have seen the deaths of 1000 people in Ukraine. Although, there appears to be some respite in the conflict emotions are still running high.
Manson is due to play Wacken in Germany tomorrow on the next leg of his tour and he has set dates in Italy, Denmark and Austria. He plans to end his tour during December in the UK.
