A look at some of the best podcasting you may have missed, including recent episodes by Gilbert Gottfried, Marc Maron and Dom Irrera.
- Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast #150: Billy J. Kramer
Gilbert Gottfried has been a popular stand-up comedian, actor and voice-over artist for decades. Less outspoken and more behind-the-scenes than Gilbert, Frank Santopadre has written comedy for decades. Beyond great comedic insight, what Gilbert and Frank have in common is encyclopedic knowledge of movies, television and music. On this episode of the award-winning Amazing Colossal Podcast, the two talk with singer Billy J. Kramer, who was a Liverpool-based peer of The Beatles. Beyond having some great stories about his career — which kicked off with 1963’s “Do You Want To Know A Secret” — Billy also answers some great questions about John, Paul, George and Ringo.
- Dom Irrera Live From The Laugh Factory: Harry & Laura Basil
Beyond being a headlining comic for decades — Comedy Central voted him one of the top 100 stand-ups of all time — Dom Irrera is known for appearances on major sitcoms like Seinfeld, The King Of Queens and Dr. Katz. On this episode of Live From The Laugh Factory, Dom sits down writer/director Harry Basil and his wife (actress) Laura. Harry was Rodney Dangerfield’s main creative collaborator for years, which gives great insight into how Rodney really was behind the scenes. Laura may not be a comic, but she also adds a lot of laughs to the episode with her honesty, including a Brad Pitt story.
- WTF With Marc Maron #800: Jeff Ross
When WTF started in September 2009, podcasts were hardly a dominant form with media. Marc Maron launched his podcast with partner Brendan McDonald as a creative outlet after the two had been laid off by Air America while both were uncertain of what they were going to do with their careers. The first episode’s guest was Jeff Ross, as known to millions as the Roastmaster General. Almost eight years later — following episodes with President Barack Obama, The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards and countless other A-listers — WTF had Jeff Ross back on the show to talk about both his journey and the show’s journey. Compelling on several levels.
