Meet the 27-year-old heir to the Toyota Kirloskar empire

Manasi Kirloskar is the sole heir to the Toyota Kirloskar empire, as she is the only child of Vikram and Geetanjali Kirloskar. She is under training as the Executive Director of Kirloskar Systems Ltd.

Behind her soft-spoken persona lies an adventurous young woman. She is a qualified artist from the Rhode Island School of Design. At the age of 13, she had her first solo painting exhibition in Bengaluru, which was attended by M.F. Hussain, according to Economic Times. She is a trained deep sea diver, a passion that adds balance to her life. “Deep sea diving requires focus, fitness, passion, ability to take risks and courage. Neither diving nor business is for the weak-hearted,” she says. “The only difference being that when diving, you are responsible for yourself. But when you run a company, you are responsible for others.”

Manasi thinks that a leader should not panic or show panic because otherwise, the team would feel demotivated and fearful. She is one tough taskmaster, as she recalls an incident: “The calm to think rationally helped me during a crisis situation of our hospital project. We were three months away from completion when the medical equipment at the Operating Theatre (OT) got wet due to heavy rain. I called a meeting of the key managers, used my contacts to simultaneously reach technical staff within 12 hours to the site. A breakdown that would typically have caused a project delay of 45 days got reduced to 15 days.”

She is still taking baby steps into the world of e-commerce. She is expected to unveil an app for the human resources industry. In the future, she envisions a chain of hospitals for her company’s Sakra World Hospitals. The company already has a hospital in Bengaluru.
