Top most wanted employers in the world. Google, Amazon and Facebook attract the most people looking for jobs

Google, Amazon and Facebook dominate the ranking of the most wanted employers in the world, according to professional social network LinkedIn. Among the most appreciated and innovative employers worldwide are also L’Oréal, Tesla or Unilever.

Google, Amazon and Facebook ended up being the most wanted employers on a global level, according to the actions of the over 500 million users of the professional social network. The ranking was made according to three main criteria: the users’ interest for the jobs at these companies, the interest for the brand and company employees, as well as the retention of employees.

LinkedIn and Microsoft, which bought the professional social network last year, were removed from the list for ethical reasons.

Alphabet, the mother-company of Google, the world’s most used search engine, it on the first position of the ranking. The company has 72,000 employees on a global level and, according to LinkedIn, is the place where people can make major changes by working in some of the Alphabet divisions, from self-driving cars to the battle against online extremism.

Alphabet has over 27,100 employees worldwide working in research and innovation, with the company allotting $13,9 billion in 2016 for this sector. New products were made using this money, such as Google Home – the intelligent speaker controlled through its dedicated virtual assistant and which sends users data regarding traffic, weather, recognizes the voices of other family members and transmits details regarding the work schedule of each person, but can also communicate with other intelligent gadgets, so that users can ask them to turn the TV on or off, and developing a complex algorithm that would detect diabetic retinopathy, one of the binding causes with the most accelerated growth worldwide and which can be prevented.

Amazon, the world’s largest retailer, with 341,000 employees worldwide, came second in the LinkedIn ranking. By emphasising innovation, the company delivered last year by the first parcel by drone in Great Britain, launched the video streaming service in India, as well as in Romania, and has recently announced signing an agreement for taking over organic supermarket chain Whole Foods, in a transaction estimated at $13,7 billion.

According to statements made by Amazon for LinkedIn, “people are often surprised to hear that working at Amazon is like working for a series of start-ups”, with the company emphasising testing and launching new products, businesses and services.

Facebook, the largest social media network in the world, currently has over 17,000 employees. The company wants to connect the whole world and sparked great interest from those that want to be a part of bold projects. “Know or explore your passions in this interconnected world, because this is at the core of everything we do here. Once you know this, be capable of demonstrating it ”says Miranda Kalinowski, head of the recruitment division.

The first three occupants of the ranking maintained the same positions they had at the last edition of the list.

Uber, one of the most valuable startups, evaluated at $68 billion, keeps attracting increased attention from those looking for a job, despite the problems experienced by the company in the past months, including the scandals regarding the organisational culture. At the moment, the company has 12,000 employees worldwide, and its policy states that the newest employees have to meet all managers in the very first days of work, at the company’s headquarters, through the three-day programme Uberversity.

Apple, the company whose name became synonymous with innovation, as it revolutionised computers, laptops and smartphones, currently has 110,000 employees worldwide, with 67,000 of them working in its 463 stores around the world, and have the same benefits as the employees from the headquarters, including company shares and support for education.

Google, Amazon, Facebook, Uber and Apple are followed in the ranking of the world’s most wanted employers by Salesforce, world leader in Customer Relationship Management solutions, McKinsey & Company, leader of the local market in management consultancy, Louis Vuitton, the largest luxury goods producer in the world, cosmetics company L’Oréal, Dell Technologies, one of the main laptop producers worldwide, Cisco Systems, a company that handles designing and manufacturing technologies and services in telecommunications, high-performance electric car producer Tesla, hardware component and software solution producer Oracle, Siemens, the largest European holding of engineering companies, and consumer goods producer Unilever.
