Is it time to leave your job?

We have all been there, the honeymoon phase is over and you have finally found everything wrong with that perfect job you boasted about at happy hour. As a seasoned pro of having a new job every few months, I have learned when it is time to leave my job.

This shouldn’t be an impulsive decision, at the end of the day we work for stability and if you are going to rock the boat be prepared for it to tip over. However, if you are at your end with these 5 deal breakers it is time to move on.

1. Disrespect

If you consistently are experiencing disrespect from your co-workers/ superiors sweetheart get out of that place, let’s be serious if you are someone else’s lackie you probably aren’t making an insane amount of money anyway and your loss of dignity is not a tax write off so get out while you can still ask for a solid recommendation.

2. Eye rolling

If most of your cardio comes from the reflex of eye rolling it’s time to either take the stairs more or get out of what is pissing you off so much. Now be realistic if you have a short tolerance for annoyances and eye rolling is just your signature move then maybe you just have a lot of feelings. Now if you are eye rolling out of character and losing yourself in the frustration of your 9-5 it’s time to make a change.

3. Lashing out

I’ll never forget the moment I knew I was done with my last job, I had just worked for over 10 hours straight and my husband asked me how my day went, I couldn’t even control my rage when I just lashed out in pretty colorful verbiage. Needless to say he told me it was time to move on from my job, money wasn’t worth it, it was the validation I needed. Once you’re at the point with your job where your loved ones are the punching bag you turned to it’s time to get a new job.

4. Money

You knew this would be one of the reason, do not forget the point of having a job. If you know you aren’t making enough and if you don’t have enough flexibility to make more doing something on the side why are you even questioning this?? Maybe it’s a personal thing, maybe you love the vibe or maybe you’re just scared you won’t find anything else but your relationship with your job is pretty basic; they get your soul and you get to pay your bills on time when that relationship is one sided someone is letting go.

5 . Dead end

If you know you have reached the end of your tunnel with this job and the light just isn’t that bright it’s time for a new tunnel with new potential. This is probably the most important reason to leave a job, in fact if every other thing on this list applies to you but this one does not reevaluate your decision because besides money opportunity is the only other reason to give someone your 9-5 time.

Making this serious of a life decision should not be determined by an article on your Facebook wall, however, the fact that you read this article at all means you truly aren’t feeling your job anymore and if you know you can afford to move on then do it! Life is an adventure and anything that fuels you with negativity doesn’t belong in your adventure.
