Writing Community on Twitter
With the addition of hashtags, there are new Twitter communities everywhere. One worth checking out if you are a writer is #ontheporch.
A few months back a new writing community was born. While online workshops are nothing new and there are Writers’ Conferences across the globe, this one took a new approach.
The new writing community is called #ontheporch, and it is well worth checking out for writers. Writers exchange encouragement, advice, helpful links, and feedback in preparation for other such pitch battles as #PitMad.
Through this hashtag, it is possible to find other writers. It is even more possible to exchange query critiques or find critique partners for novels. (And every novel writer knows how beneficial a betta reader is.) The most important part: a community gives life to what is often a solitary craft.
So far, there have been sessions with editors and literary agents. The exchanging of questions and answers. All around there is no loss here. While the exact inception of the community is hard to pinpoint, the sense of community it has brought about is amazing. It gives writers the opportunity to hone in on their craft, revel in their failures, and share optimism for their future works.
