The VPN rage in business continues to trend for good reason: Here’s why
If you’re a business, and you’re NOT exploring the option for a VPN (Virtual Private Network), you might be spending too much for your Internet connection!
As identity theft and hacking continues to grow as a major white-hat crime problem for companies (and individuals, too), it’s pretty obvious: VPNs are getting big. And the cost savings, plus benefits speak for themselves.
But What Is VPN? What is a “Virtual Private Network”?
If you know anything about cloud technology, a virtual private network will make a lot of sense. From the very beginning, Internet networks were more about specific structures housing all the data and connections. Real buildings. The local wireless setups apply to this demographic as well. The problem, obviously, with that is the fact that areas then can be ripe for hacking or invasion. Sensitive property gets targeted. Sensitive information becomes more vulnerable.
It’s like having your favourite CD and someone steals it versus your favourite CD on digital cloud format, and literally, no one can steal it. It’s up there on the “Internet.” Safe and sound.
A VPN operates very similarly, allowing for a secure network infrastructure, eliminating long-distance leased lines, telephone charges and other support costs. It’s like having a phone line existing in the cloud. You can route your business lines just about anywhere — without worrying about cords, cables, and installations. Pretty sweet, right?
Security Is Paramount in Business These Days
This is the trend many businesses look at, and there’s no sign of it shifting backwards. Only forward. Seems like everything, even our telecommunications, will be going digital and cloud!
