RYZEN 3 1300X at $129 and RYZEN 3 1200 at $109

AMD punches below the belt with its R3 (Ryzen 3) CPU’s.

The higher end Ryzen 3 1300x will cost $129 and the cheaper option Ryzen 1200 will cost $109, with the cost set to decrease over time.

AMD RYZEN 3 1300X: 4 cores / 4 threads, 3.5 GHz (stock), 3.7 GHz (boost)

The 1300x is the bigger brother of the two CPU’s. The base clock speed is 3.5GHz and a turbo of up to 3.7GHz.

With 4 cores and 4 threads, the 1300x is set to compete with some Intel i7 CPU’s and pretty much all the entire Intel i3 CPU range.

The price of the 1300x is going to be an aggressive $129, according to leaked information.

The L2 Cache is set at 2MB with L3 Cache at 8MB which is only half of what the R7 (Ryzen 7) CPU’s will have.

The TDP (Thermal Design Point) for this card is 65 watts.

AMD RYZEN 3 1200: 4 cores / 4 threads, 3.1 GHz (stock), 3.4 GHz (boost)

The 1200 is the slower brother of the two CPU’s. The base clock speed is 3.1GHz and a turbo of up to 3.4GHz.

With 4 cores and 4 threads, the 1200 is set to compete with some Intel i5 CPU’s and pretty much all the entire Intel Dual core CPU range.

The price of the 1200 is going to be an aggressive $109, according to leaked information.

GAMING ON RYZEN 3

These two CPU’s should be the base standard for those that are looking to build or buy a gaming rig. Four cores are becoming the standard and with Intel not letting go of its 2 core CPU’s, AMD may force a change in the market and cause Intel to let go of 2 core chips. With games becoming more intensive and offering higher detail options, having at least 4 cores is now becoming the bare minimum. Consoles such as the X Box X and PS 4 Pro are already built with 8 core chips. The R3 1300x is best set for mainstream gaming and solid gaming builds comparable to achieving what the consoles have to offer paired with a decent graphics card like the AMD Radeon RX 480.

These two low end CPU’s are set to cause Intel some real stress. The Ryzen AM4 Motherboards are cheaper and so are these two CPU’s. System builders like Dell and HP are going to be able to offer better machines to regular consumers whether they realise it or not. These two budget orientated CPU’s are also set to make sub-four-core CPU’s redundant.

The expected release date for the AMD Ryzen 3 (R3) CPU’s is the 27th of July 2017.
