At the time, the original Metal Gear did something revolutionary for all action games; instead of directly engaging with enemies Hideo Kojima encouraged players to avoid combat. Given the context, infiltrating an enemy compound, it made more sense to avoid combat than to go guns blazing. This core idea of avoiding combat soon became the seed which grew into the massive Metal Gear Solid franchise.
On the day of the games anniversary, Twitter exploded with content honouring this renowned franchise. With the hashtag #MG30th, art, videos and comments have all been posted online, praising the influence of Hideo Kojima’s influential franchise.
