Instagram accounts mysteriously shut down by bug
Instagram users are complaining that their accounts have been deleted with no apparent reason, according to the Independent.
The affected accounts display the message “Sorry, this page isn’t available”. Instagram is aware of the issue, blaming the situation on a bug. “We’re aware of a bug that’s causing some users to be logged out of their accounts,” it wrote on Twitter. “We’re working to resolve this as quickly as possible.” The company assured its users that their accounts and pictures have not been lost. “No accounts have been deleted,” the company told the Independent.
Apparently, only a small percentage of users have been affected. Some of them reported the app telling them to enter their phone number and wait for a security code that is never sent. Other users said that the app told them their account “has been disabled for violating [Instagram’s] terms”.
Earlier this week, Instagram closed reality TV star Rob Kardashian’s account after he posted explicit photos of his former fiancée, Blac Chyna, without the model’s consent. “We value maintaining a safe and supportive space for our community and we work to remove reported content that violates our guidelines,” the company said.
