Young goalkeeper quits for health reasons
Twenty Year old Luton Town Keeper Craig King turns down new contract for health reasons.
Tuesday June 29th, was the day many will for a while remember as the day a most courageous young man bid his final farewell to Kenilworth Road as a player.
Craig King, although offered a new one year contract by the “boss”, Nathan Jones, decided he could no longer remain within the game and was seeking a completely new career. One would not want to sound patronising to the young man, but he can be looked upon as extremely courageous in the manner that he explained what must have been a very difficult one and more over for admitting in such a public way his battle with depression. What may have helped him to do so, could very well be the positive media coverage of late in relation to what is a most horrendous illness.
Twenty year old King has been associated with Luton Town for nine years, as a junior until 2013 when he joined the Hatters Academy.
Craig made only four first team appearances for the Hatter first team, all in last season’s EFL trophy matches.
During the back end of last season he made six appearances in the National League for Southport, on loan.
I am sure most supporters of football will along with Luton Town followers want to wish Craig the very best with his future and that he is able find a new career that will give him equal pleasure as being a professional footballer must have given.
