The Body Shop announces £2 mln ”bio-bridges” scheme to protect wildlife
Cosmetics company The Body Shop has announced a £2 mln scheme to create 10 new ”bio-bridges” that will help protect wildlife in areas with rainforest, The Independent reports.
The company announced this scheme aiming to protect 10 corridors between wildlife hotspots by 2020, allowing isolated and endangered species to be connected so as to breed and thrive. The scheme is the result of work with conservationists in Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia, targeting species such as tigers and orangutans, while the areas in Malaysia include tapirs and the muntjac deer.
Furthermore, local communities will be engaged in protecting the habitat and developing ways of life that are harming the environment as little as possible.
