Lamar Odom’s daughter Destiny opens up about her father’s near death experience
Almost two years later since Lamar Odom overdosed at a Nevada brothel and his 18-year-old daughter, Destiny, has spoken about her dad’s drug addiction and recovery.
According to People/Entertainment Weekly, which featured Surviving A Father’s Addiction: Lamar Odom’s Family Speaks Out, the teenager admitted she didn’t think the former NBA star would survive:
“It was a school night when I found out. We all thought he was, that this was it for him and he was going to pass away. But, life is so crazy.”
Destiny’s first visit with Lamar in the hospital lasted 30 minutes, and she was convinced it had a lot to do with his waking up from his coma. She commented, “The next morning he was ripping tubes out of his mouth and I don’t really think that’s a coincidence. I think he was meant to be here because of me and my brother [Lamar Jr.]. It sounds like a cheesy movie, but I think that everything happens for a reason.”
The Odom family held an intervention at the hospital, telling Lamar he had to go to rehab or his children would stop speaking to him. Lamar was able to complete rehab successfully this past January and is looking forward to starting over.
