A company transforms the ashes of the loved ones in diamonds
A Swiss company is taking things to a new level when it comes to memorial keepsakes from the ashes of the loved ones. Algordanza uses cremated human remains to create memorial diamonds.
They say diamonds are forever, don’t they? Actually, diamonds are simply pressurized carbon atoms taken from the earth’s mantle using pressure and heat.
The human body is around 20% carbon and this allows the company to use a unique process and transform the remains into diamonds.
“In our laboratory we are able to isolate this carbon from all other substances. This isolated carbon is the foundation for the diamond growth following the example set by nature.
The carbon solely from the remains of your loved one converts under high pressure and high temperature to graphite.
The purified graphite is the foundation for the subsequent diamond transformation inside our own HPHT (High Pressure – High Temperature) machines,” the company explained how the process works.
A diamond burial could cost less that the traditional ones, with prices ranging from $5,000 to $20,000.
