Nanotech and 3D laser sintering – what you need to know

1615 views

The dawn of nanotechnology and 3D sintering technology is about to change the shape of the tech world. Nanotechnology harnesses the ability to manipulate individual molecules to make smaller and smaller microchips, motors and moving parts. It also allows for manufacturers to create materials that possess properties that are simply out of this world. This, combined with 3D sintering technology means that products can be tailored to suit the ergonomics of each individual.

The first inkling that we had of such technological advances was when IBM managed to write its name with atoms in 1989 – back in the heady days when Tomorrow’s World was at the cutting edge of technology.

Although many products which use such technology are at the prototype stage, there have been steps made to get these onto the market and we should be seeing them in our shopping bags soon enough.

What we will expect to see is a plethora of flexible smartphones or super thin phones and televisions that can be rolled up and put in a rucksack. We’ll also see gadgets, with greater capability getting tiny and more portable. This combined with hydrophobic Nanotech fabrics may see our phones more useable underwater and our smart watches more scuba friendly. Even contact lenses could process and display information that the wearer could interact with. Batteries may also be liquid and rechargeable without the need for a conventional charger.

Batteries may also be liquid and rechargeable without the need for a conventional charger. Moreover, we’ll see a revolution in solar cell materials and a sharp3d rise in the processing capacity of our now archaic laptops and iPhones.

Concepts and prototypes are being patented before with technology are mass produced. Nanotech boots, jackets, scuba masks, speakers, and sunglasses will inevitably be prototyped and marketed. Not only will these enter the mass market but military and government equipment will all be light years ahead of anything we can possibly imagine. For those film buffs amongst you think Ghost in a Shell meets Judge Dread.
