Ex-EA executive joins Tesla amid work safety scandal

Tesla has a new Chief People Officer, Gaby Toledano, after its former employee, who spent more than eight years at the company, left the car manufacturer. Microsoft, Oracle, and Electronic Arts (EA) are on Toledano’s resume.

The Tesla team recently announced it’s ‘excited’ to announce Gaby Toledano has joined Tesla as Chief People Officer, leading Human Resources and Facilities, reporting into Elon Musk.

According to the company, the new CPO has 10 years of experience on theExecutive Team at EA, but she has also led Human Resources at Siebel Systems and held leadership positions at both Microsoft and Oracle.

Tesla notes in a blog post that Gaby currently sits on four technology boards.

Before her, Arnnon Geshuri has led HR at Tesla for more than eight years and, according to the company, ‘helped transition Tesla from a small car company that many doubted would ever succeed, to an integrated sustainable energy company with more than 30,000 employees around the globe.’

Recently, Tesla was criticised by former and current employees for work safety in its Fremont factory. One of them said that in 2016, six out of eight people in his work team were out on medical leave at the same time due to various work-related injuries.

The U.S. company reacted and said its ‘safety record is well above the industry average’ and that its goal is to ‘have as close to zero injuries as humanly possible and to become the safest factory in the auto industry.’
