New Oreos

Around since before World War I, Oreo cookies are among the most popular brands in the land, and now, the creative thinkers at Mondelez International, Oreos’ parent company, have come up with the latest variety of the iconic cookie …

Firework, which contains red and blue candy pieces mixed into the traditional creme for a new sensory experience, which is different from the other variations they have come out with over the years, which are more new flavors than anything else.

Eat the cookies, and the candy pieces will pop right in your mouth.

And yes, this is a limited edition, so you better get this new Oreo while you can.

On top of all this, Oreo is asking fans to come up with new flavors for the cookie.

Using the hashtag #MyOreoCreation, and they have enlisted a number of C-list celebrities to help to promote this competition, including Freddie Prinze Jr.

Three finalist flavors will hit the stores in May 2018, and fan voting will determine the winner. The person who sent in the winning suggestion will get $500,000 and will be allowed to test unreleased Oreo products.

If this all sounds familiar, several other food manufacturers have held similar contests to try to find “the next big thing,” including Mars, which recently put its own iconic product, M&M’s, through a new flavor contest.

So, with the contest out there, what will be the next big Oreos flavor?

Put on your thinking caps! Here are a few that came to mind:

Potato Chip Oreos: Cookies and potato chips are both snacks, so you mix them together, and this is what you get to drink a tall glass of milk.

Geritol Oreos: For those who have a problem with elimination, this should help, and it tastes good, too!

Beer Oreos: This might be a good idea, but do you have to be over a certain age to enjoy them, and thus, do you need proof of ID to purchase them?

“Survivor” Oreos: During past food competitions on the CBS reality show, contestants have been asked to eat numerous delicacies of the countries they are trying to survive in, but to American tastes, these dishes are generally indigestible. So take your pick: everything from dead rats to rotted fish to various bugs to … calling Andrew Zimmern!

And finally, the best choice of all:

Gefilte Fish Oreos: Now you can mix salty and sweet and ethnic tastes in one little cookie, but the problem is, what do you do with the role?
