The many battles of Donald Trump

It’s been a rough few months for US President Donald Trump, not even six months in office and already he has found himself having to fight more battles than many of his predecessors. Here we intend to outline a few.

Let’s face it, unless you’ve spent this entire year living in a hole in the ground you’ll already know about RussiaGate. Until recently we’ve had no information to suggest that President Trump himself was colluding with Russians during the 2016 election, and we heard a few weeks ago during the testimony of former FBI Director James Comey that Trump himself was not under investigation.

Lately the nets on Russia have begun to tighten with deeper investigation into Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, as well as the recent testimony from US Attorney General Jeff Sessions. In the few days since Mr. Sessions talked to the Senate Committee there have already been as yet unsubstantiated calls that he has committed perjury with new claims from Richard Burt an American lobbyist for Russian interests. Mr. Burt claims he attended at least two dinners, hosted by the Attorney General who claimed to have had no contact with Russians or lobbyists during the campaign.

As is expected President Trump has taken strongly to his favorite Social Media platform on the Russian subject time and time again, but oddly enough has remained quiet on the battles that actually directly affect him.

This week the attorneys general of Maryland and the District of Columbia have opened a lawsuit against Donald Trump himself arguing that his various business holdings not only create a conflict of interest, but that Trump hotels are now profiting from foreign visitors that previously would have used government holdings, actually draining money that under previous presidents would have gone into the American Economy rather than the President’s Pocket.

Also this week US District Judge James Boasberg has ruled that a deeper environmental review is needed on the Dakota Pipeline. One of Trump’s earliest executive orders was to authorize the completion of the pipeline, and although Judge Boasberg refrained from ordering it shut down during the review, this will definitely come as a blow to Trump and a lifeline to the Environmentalists who argued against the pipeline in the first place.

Finally this week it’s also now been revealed, by Trump himself, that he is officially under investigation for obstruction of justice in regard to his firing of Former FBI Director James Comey, and his comments to “Let Mike Flynn go.” This information, which was being kept quiet, was leaked by Trump himself just a few hours ago.

All of this of course comes on top of his ongoing battles regarding his intended travel ban and the problems with Trumpcare that have already been thorns in the President’s side.

In all, whether you love Trump or hate him, you have to agree he is a man who is being attacked from several directions at once, especially with the calls for impeachment spearheaded by Senator Al Green.

With all this in mind it’s no surprise that Vice President Mike Pence this week retained the services of attorney Richard Cullen should the Russia spot light fall on him as well.
