At least four killed in San Francisco UPS shooting – UPDATE
At least four people were killed and several others wounded on Wednesday when a man thought to be a United Parcel Service Inc employee opened fire at a company facility in San Francisco.
UPDATE: Four people, including the attacker, died in the San Francisco UPS shooting, according to police. The assailant was wearing the company’s uniform when he opened fire. Police say the attacker shot himself.
UPDATE: Local TV news station says at least four people were killed after an UPS employee opened fire inside the company’s facility.
After firing on co-workers, the suspect turned a gun on himself when confronted by police, according to NBC Bay Area and ABC 7. He later died at an area hospital, they said, citing law enforcement sources.
UPDATE: UPS full statement:
“UPS confirms there was a shooting incident involving 4 employees within the company’s facility in San Francisco earlier this morning. Local law enforcement are conducting an investigation. We cannot provide information as to the identity of persons involved at this time, pending the police investigation. We understand that there are potentially multiple deaths, although some individuals were transported to the hospital and we are unsure of their status at this time.
The company is saddened and deeply concerned about affected employees, family members and the community we share. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those touched by this incident.
The facility is an area package sorting hub and package delivery center.
UPS employs 850 at the facility.”

UPDATE: San Francisco police said the building was secure but offered no immediate information on victims. “UPS confirms there was an incident involving employees within the company’s facility in San Francisco earlier this morning,” the company said in a statement.

UPDATE: At least three people were injured, including the suspected gunman.
Victims were taken to the Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, spokesman Brent Andrew said. He said he could not say how many patients were taken to the hospital or give their conditions.
It was not immediately clear if anyone had died.
The shooting occurred in the area of a United Parcel Service facility, local television stations reported on Twitter. A San Francisco police representative could not immediately be reached for comment.

The incident comes as another gunman opened fire at a baseball practice involving U.S. politicians in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday, wounding several people including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana.
