Google and Uber partner to offer users ride service through Maps

Google Maps users will be able to book Uber rides thanks to a new integration Google is trying out. It’s not the only news the company has in the ride service section.

Google is trying out a new integration that lets users book, complete and pay for an Uber ride without ever leaving Google Maps—even if they don’t have the Uber app installed on their device.

According to Sara McKinley Torti, Senior Product Manager, once users sign into their existing Uber account (or create one), they can book an Uber ride, track their driver on the map, and connect with their driver—all from within the Google Maps app.

Back in March 2016, Google announced a new ride services mode to Google Maps as a convenient option for people to easily get where they need to go. Now, the company says it added a number of new ride service partners in the U.S. and worldwide and now it’s starting to roll out an updated ride services experience to make it even easier for users to book a ride directly from Google Maps, on both Android and iOS globally.

Google says that with the updates, users will ow see more types of ride options and more actionable information. Instead of a long list of ride service providers and ride options, users will see the map, along with a carousel of ride service providers in their area.
